   John Murray Forbes  

John Murray Forbes (1813-1898) was the youngest of the three Forbes brothers who went to Canton for their Perkins uncles. Although he came from the same background of relative deprivation in a family where the principals were powerful and wealthy, his position was softened by preventive actions of his brothers and uncles. Thomas Tunno Forbes had left instructions to lay Perkins & Co business in the hands of Russell & Co
