   Meeting of the Central Pacific Railroad and the Union Pacific Railroad  
   at Promontory Point Utah  

As the Union Pacific had already built further West, the two railroads met at Promontory on May 10, 1869. A new frontier was broken on this day and it would take America a hundred years to achieve a step of equal significance.
