Like most prosperous people, the Crockers soon became active in local politics. E.B. Crocker helped found the Republican Party of California in 1856 and Charles Crocker successfully ran for the new party in 1860 for the California State Assembly. Both Charles and Edwin Crocker were members of the Pacific Quartet which built and controlled the Central Pacific Railroad and became multi-millionaires …
