   Incorporation of the Central Pacific Railroad  

Supported in his efforts by Daniel W. Strong, a druggist from Dutch Flat and Charles Marsh, a merchant and mine owner of Nevada City. Mark Hopkins, Collis Potter Huntington, Leland Stanford, Charles Crocker and James Bailey, a jeweler of Sacramento, each paid down 1'500 $ for 150 shares in the company. Theodore Judah was given 150 shares for his engineering works. The Central Pacific Railroad Company was incorporated in June 1861 with Leland Stanford as president, C.P. Huntington as vice-president, Mark Hopkins as treasurer and Theodore Judah as chief engineer …
