Nathaniel Lynde Griswold and George Griswold

… The firm N.L. & G. Griswold was started by two brothers Nathaniel Lynde Griswold and George Griswold who came to New York from Connecticut in 1794. Nathaniel Griswold was the older brother but George Griswold was the first to settle in New York City. The family's ancestor Edward Griswold came from Kenilworth England in 1635 and his son Matthew Griswold (b.1653) settled the family in Lyme, Connecticut.
