Thomas Handasyd Perkins genesis … Colonel Perkins eldest daughter Eliza who married Samuel Cabot jr in a union that brought Perkins blood and money into Boston's premier dynasty. The second daughter Sarah never married and was known in the family as Aunt Sally. Mary Perkins married Thomas Graves Cary, a trained lawyer who gave up his practice to work in the family firm until it was dissolved and who became treasurer of the Hamilton and Appleton textile mills in Lowell, Massachusetts thereafter. The Cary's daughter Elizabeth married Jean Louis Rodolphe Agassiz, the famous Swiss geologist whose explorations in the West would bring Boston Society …
