              Leather

Lampen aus Gusseisen und Leder

Tanning has a long tradition in the Maghreb. Whereas Marrakesh remains the best known tanning place in Northwestern Africa, the craft is done in many other places of Morocco and Tunisia too. The most commonly used hides in these regions are sheep and goat hides. After featuring lamps with leather for some time, RAKEN is now introducing other leather products : the famous leather hassocks and our Hamel Collection, where goat leather is coupled with the Hamel tapestry from the South of Tunisia in a number of useful things, such as brief-cases, handbags, mirrors and jewel cases.

                                 Copper

This fiery metal has a long tradition in arab artisan works throughout the Middle East and North Africa region. Copper is carved and crafted for use as trays, lamps, tea services and of course, the tubes of the famous sheesha narghiles. All these traditional Arab copper works are both useful and highly decorative, giving your home and exotic touch and adding a special type of comfort to your life.

 Pastel wood collection

To complete our collection of hand-painted wood items, we have added the works of a very special woman artisan who paints on wooden furniture and decorative items. The motives she uses range from traditional Arabic jewellery, such as Khlala or Khomssa (Fatima's hand), Berber jewelry, fish motives to flowers and vines. In this collection, we now offer mirrors and lamps, waiting to introduce small tablesand chests.

Wood : hand carved an hand painted / Zellige ceramic motives

Wood carving and painting is another of the almost forgotten traditions of Mediterranean, Arab and African artisans. AD93 has revived these traditions with a few unique items such as jewel-cases, tea trays and mosque lights. These items come in various colours and sizes. Mirrors and tea trays are decorated with representations of traditional Zellige ceramic motives made of resin. We also feature a few silver thread incrusted, crushed stone painted mirrors. It is unlikely to find two identical pieces given the way they are handcrafted.
