Sidi Bou Said  :   History    Leisure

The “Café des Nattes”
A mystic café by its history and by its famous visitors,  Camus, Hemingway, Flaubert and many more. A café of  dreams, highly entrenched in its atmosphere of continuous  celebration of senses. Your mind in migration under the  influence of Andalus melodies, as you are seated on rattan  mats, with a fuming tea in your hands and the scent of  Narghile all over the place, will take shelter in this charming  universe of 1001 nights.

The village of Sidi Bou Said
Take a walk through the narrow alleys and you will feel the ecstasy of light and colours, which  so fascinates the artists, who make Sidi Bou said their home.

When it meets your minds, it seeks passionately to please and offer moments of joy, magic and sweet illusion. Erring through the streets of Sidi Bou Said you will be fascinated by its houses, with their blue and yellow doors, secret patios, fountains and flowered gardens.

When physically tired of walking, and still under its charm,  just sit down in one of the cafés and enjoy a hot mint tea or  a Turkish coffee, to take your breath for new discoveries.

The Café Chabâne
The café Chabâne bears the name of a follower of Sidi Bou Said El-Beji.

On its terraces you will have a breathtaking view on the sea and the yacht haven, as well as the Erlanger Palace on the other side of the mountain.

The Erlanger Palace
The “Ennejma  Ezzahra” (splendid star), more commonly  known as the Erlanger Palace, which still dominates the  Southern hill of Sidi Bou Said, was built in 1922 by the  French painter and musicologist Baron Rodolphe d’Erlanger.  A passionate of Arab and Andalus music “the Malouf”,  instruments.

The palace also houses a rich collection of Arab  manuscripts, paintings and other art objects from Baron  Erlanger and other artists.
